Dr. D'Esposito is a prominent neurologist who will be delive ring the 25th Brenda Milner Lecture\, titled 'The Neural Architecture of C ognitive Control: From Bench to Bedside'\n\nKeynote Speaker: Dr. Mark D'Es posito\n Distinguished Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology\, UC Berkel ey\n Neurologist\, Northern California VA Health Care System\n Founding Dire ctor\, Henry H. Wheeler\, Jr. Brain Imaging Center\, UC Berkeley\n\nRegist er here\n\nStreaming: link - live stream begins at 2 pm\, no Q&A function \n\nTalk Abstract: \n\nA fundamental question in cognitive neuroscience is how we can flexibly guide our behaviour. Cognitive control involves the i nterplay between top-down and bottom-up processes. Bottom-up processes are responsible for guiding automatic behaviour and are influenced by sensory input\, whereas top-down processes are shaped by internal states like kno wledge from previous experiences\, intentions\, and goals. In this talk\, Dr. D'Esposito will share a series of human studies that utilize diverse a pproaches to explore the neural mechanisms responsible for cognitive contr ol. Furthermore\, Dr. D'Esposito will discuss potential strategies for rem ediating cognitive control deficits that are observed in a wide range of c linical conditions.\n\n\n \n Programme\n Call for Posters\n Location\n Organizi ng Committee\n Scientific Committee\n \n\n \n Program Booklet \n Download Progr am Booklet\n\n  \n\n Monday\, May 6\, 2024\n\n \n \n \n 12:30-13:45\n Lunch & Pos ter Session #1\n \n \n 14:00\n \n Oral Presentations - 8 minutes each with 2 mi nutes for questions\n\n Welcome and Introduction\n\n Talk 1: Integrating bra instem and cortical functional architectures\n Justine Hansen\n Talk 2: Is t he affective response to performance feedback related to motor learning?\n Dimitri Palidis\n Talk 3: Dissociable cognitive deficits associated with su bstantia nigra and locus coeruleus degeneration in Parkinson’s disease\n So phie Sun\n Talk 4: Listening While Playing the Organ: How Auditory-Motor In tegration May Influence the Frequency-Following Response\n Isabelle Arsenea u-Bruneau\n\n 5 minute pause\n\n Talk 5: Focal epilepsy reduces widespread c oupling of sleep spindles and sleep slow waves as potential mechanism for poor memory performance\n Katharina Schiller\n Talk 6: Neural mechanisms of sensorimotor integration in speech perception\n Olivia Bizimungu\n Talk 7: N o Evidence for a Generalized Construct of Cognitive Effort Aversion\n Ziqi Fu\n Talk 8: Automatic\, Ad-Libitum Cognitive Touchscreen Testing in the Co mmon Marmoset\n Tyler Cook\n\n Closing remarks\n \n \n \n 15:25\n \n Refreshment P ause\n \n \n \n 16:00\n \n Keynote Talk: The Neural Architecture of Cognitive Co ntrol: From Bench to Bedside\n\n Welcome and Speaker Introduction: Nathan S preng\, The Neuro\n\n Dr. Mark D'Esposito\n\n Distinguished Professor of Neu roscience and Psychology\, UC Berkeley\n Neurologist\, Northern California VA Health Care System\n Founding Director\, Henry H. Trainees at the undergraduate\, gradu ate\, and postdoctoral level are invited to present their work as posters. Abstracts will also be considered for an oral presentation. \n\n Abstract submissions will be entered into a competition with prizes of $250 for fir st place and $100 for three runners-up! \n\n The scientific presentations a re intended to ignite discussion\, collaboration\, and connection among th e Montreal cognitive neuroscience community. We encourage you to share you r most current project in any stage of development\, including literature reviews\, research questions\, and pilot projects. Please submit your abst ract of less than 150 words HERE. \n\n  Abstracts should be one page only a nd contain: 1) name of author & affiliation\, 2) name of co-authors & affi liation\, 3) title of abstract\, 4) abstract. The deadline for submission is March 22\, 2024.\n \n\n \n Location\n\n The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital is at 3801 University Street\, north of Pine Avenue West\, o n the Æ»¹ûÒùÔº campus opposite the former Royal Victoria Hospital .\n\n Montreal is served by highway Routes 10\, 15\, 20 and 40\, and by Gre yhound Bus\, ViaRail and the P-E-Trudeau airport. In the city\, bus and me tro service is provided by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).\n\n Wheelchair access\n\n A wheelchair accessible entrance is on University Str eet north of the main entrance. Another wheelchair accessible entrance is in the loading area behind the building: to enter the loading area\, turn into the driveway south of the main entrance. Please note\, there is no pa rking in the loading area.\n\n Parking\n\n Parking near the MNI is sometimes difficult.
