Overview: In the last couple of years, AI algorithms for generating text, images, video and even other types of data, such as molecules, have taken hold in the public mindset. In this talk, I will discuss the main ideas behind generative AI, to give an intuition of how these models are trained and what their strengths and weaknesses are. I will discuss both the hype and hope of this type of technology, and give some example use cases and approaches for embedding generative AI models in an educational context.
Panel Overview: Instructors design and implement the teaching that students experience. This panel will focus on how Generative AI is forcing us to rethink what and how we teach and conduct assessments. Instructors and students from different disciplines will share reflections on their experiences and discuss future directions for teaching in the age of Generative AI.听听

Panel Overview: Students learn in formal and informal settings and ways. Generative AI will challenge our assumptions about the way learning happens and what it means to have learned something. This panel will explore the experiences of instructors and students from different disciplines and look to future directions for learning in the age of generative AI.听

The Generative AI Landscape: Understanding the different types of generative AI models (e.g., text, image, audio) and their capabilities.
Overview:听While beliefs regarding the impact of AI on education 鈥 both realized and potential 鈥 are readily available, what we actually know and understand about such impacts is still quite limited.听 This panel will illustrate some of the routes that researchers are taking towards building a better collective understanding necessary for the responsible use of AI in education.听
